Black & White

feeling black and white tonight
devoid of color and of light
drained by day, seduced by night
leaving my heart out of sight

someone hold my shaking hand
tell me stories of beauty grand
color my soul, bring life back
I am lost — so very lost,

waiting to be found.

I step through the open door
seeking what? I do not know.

But knowing that I want more
than this here, this now

— so

I’ll go.

  1. God, you are beautiful! I feel this poem right now. Sitting alone in my hotel room wishing I were somewhere else. I am completely drained. Lovely poem, Em. ❤

    1. {Blush} Thanks so much, Vic 🙏🏼💜 I appreciate the moral support, but sorry you feel it, too. I am also tapped, and not sure where to go from here. Hope you are out of there soon! Sleep and dream of better places/universes/times. ✨🌙

      1. You’re very welcome and thank you for the good wishes. I’m hoping I can sleep tonight. Just took a melatonin. I don’t have ear plugs unfortunately. I hope you figure out where your heart is leading you. Goodnight. 😘

      1. It’s absolutely a lifeline to me. Th expression and ability to sort when I need to as well. Listening to my heart and the understanding that comes of it. But I need people, too! People who wish to hear what my heart is saying, who wish to receive that and want to understand. It has taken me years to truly KNOW that. If that makes any sense at all.

  2. I love a lot of your poems, but I really like how you constructed this with the color motif. Your expression is lovely, black and white can be beautiful too, as you have deftly shown.
