The crackle of the record

carbon tune arm revolves
around and around,
around and around
punctuating pops
and a timely scratch
black hole music trap
played past last band
hypnotic vinyl
grooves spiral

past and present merge
and time is all too evident
turntable tick-tock
horizontal clock

scratch-pop scratch-pop scratch

pop goes thought dying
with the absence of sound
the mind can’t tell it’s gone
for it’s gone with it

the fading chorus of Holst’s last planet
tempts me away with their siren call

I float on ghosted notes
to Neptune

leaving it

leaving me

    1. Thank you, Eric. And yes, I’m a fan of Jupiter, too! John Williams was heavily inspired by Holst and if you listen to Mars and then the Star Wars theme it’s quite apparent! 😊

      1. I just found ‘Ten’ at an impressive number 2, higher than Michael Jackson’s Thriller at 3 and just below Coldplay’s A Rush Of Blood To The Head on the top spot!
