The Thing About Poets…

the thing about poets…

we see all colors
yet
we see none

we create lines
yet
we push minds’ boundaries

we see tomorrow
yet
only the truth of today

I was overcome today by the feeling of community in the Instagram poetry world (and WordPress, too), when I paused to appreciate that we support one another regardless of race, ethnicity or gender. Yes, there are some trouble makers and trolls, like everywhere, but on the whole, as poets we see the beauty in everyone’s heart. And some hearts are dark and troubled, some are open and light, but we hold each other with love, regardless.

Purple Rain

“I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It’s such a shame our friendship had to end

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Underneath the purple rain

Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It’s time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too

You say you want a leader
But you can’t seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
If you know what I’m singing about up here
C’mon, raise your hand

Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you
Only want to see you
In the purple rain”

RIP Prince.

Sad to see his genius leave the earth. And because musicians are poets, too, my tribute is to post his poetry here tonight.

My Lone Dawn Robin ~ A Duet

Kisses from afar
Tending to you
Landing softly ajar
Tongue tempting juice

Of loin’s fruition
From slumber aroused
By magic volition
Poet-souls doused

As lyrical love sings
Like a lone dawn robin
A virile voice echoing
His notes seducing sin

Red-breasted regaling
Of nature’s intention
To conjoin in impaling
Love birds’ conception

Seeking, restless spirits
Riding morning’s mist
Launching love’s lust
In trills of torrid trysts

Again, spoiled to create with Kosmogonic.  I do believe it is only just the beginning of something great that will only become more so…

Thanks, K.
